Summer Knitting - Breaking All the Rules

Sunday, July 15, 2012

As I mentioned in my Summer Knitting Giveaway, I really want to keep stitching through the warm months this year rather than abandoning all WIPs until the winter returns.

I set up some guidelines that I thought would help maintain my interest; select patterns for items that can be used or worn in warmer weather and pick cool fibers that don't make your hands sweat!

I broke both of those rules with this shawlette. It's a heavy piece knit with Malabrigo wool yarn that is totally inappropriate for warm weather! The pattern is called Debaser and it can be found on Ravelry.

I did enjoy knitting this but I think I'll try to stick with my summer rules for my next project. Playing with wool yarn in 80 degree temps in a house without AC is not entirely pleasant :).

Don't forget, it's not too late to enter my Summer Knitting Giveaway! I'll be picking a winner next weekend.

I am TOTALLY running to Ravelry to find this pattern! It is sooo pretty. Not too frooofee, and yet very elegant. I will definitly need a "knit babysitter" for this one. =)

I have a great LYS. The owner has TONS of patience and if one buys their yarn there...she is available anytime to help with the knitting.

It is freezing cold and has been raining for weeks in England, I could really do with a gorgeous shawl like that!

It may not be pleasant, but I'm sure it's enjoyable none the less! That's a gorgeous piece! Love your idea too...I need to get something on the needles!

That is absolutely beautiful. Who could blame you for breaking your summer rule to get that one done?

I know it was toasty to knit it but you finished a beautiful piece. I do not knit, tried to teach myself last winter and...well, let's just say it wasn't pretty. :)
